Our Trip out East...to Alberta

Monday, March 26, 2007

We've been back now for a few days but we recently went out to Pincher Creek, AB, for my father's funeral. We drove down on Friday the 16th. We drove throughout the night from Kamloops, through Kelowna, down to highway number 3 and straight east to Pincher Creek. What a ride that was! We had a viewing at the funeral hall Sunday night. We had a mass at 11am, Monday morning. At 1pm dad was moved to Dee's house for a wake which lasted about 24 hours. On Tuesday we made a long processional line from Pincher into Brocket. The funeral was at 1pm followed by a graveside followed by a meal. What a way to say good-bye. Those days really did honor dad.
We were blessed to be there, to be around family and to introduce my family to the native side. Mattea met her native relatives and they all loved her--especially her blue eyes. Mattea is truly unique. On her native side she's the only one with blue eyes and on her dutch side she's the only one with brown hair. Cool :) Here are some pics of Mattea with the Weasel Bear clan.

Mattea was glad to go and meet everyone, but she sure is happy to be back. Doncha think?
